The August 16, 2017 edition of the Independent included the following: Greene County tax sale; County Inspections of food establishments, school board meeting, County Marriage Licenses, and much more! Obituaries: Anita Stultz Foster, 94, Bradbury California, formerly of Jasonville; Eva Lenore Goble, PHD, 107, West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of the Jasonville, Coalmont area; James C. "Cliff" Neff, 87, of Terre Haute, Indiana, formerly of the Jasonville area.

UPDATE: Death Notice:Ronald D. "Ron" Hertaus, 54, of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 11, 1017 in Greene County, Indiana.  Visitation was Tuesday, August  15 and Wednesday, August 16, at Cox Funeral Home in Jasonville.  The Funeral Services were Wednesday, August 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Messmer and Pastor James Phipps officiating.  As Ron requested, Cremation will be later.

UPDATE: Death Notice: Lorene Pell, 92, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Shakamak Good Samaritan Center in Jasonville.  Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Thursday, August 17 at the Cox Funeral Home in Jasonville.  Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor David Rector officiating.  Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lorene to the Greene County Foundation.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

The beauty of Shakamak State Park.  This is Lake Kickapoo,one of 3 lakes in the park.  The park is located a mile or so from Jasonville, and has around 300,000 visitors each year.
